Call of Duty Mobile

Call of Duty Mobile has been breaking all the records recently. Within 3 days, the game had about 20 million downloads across iOS and Android. And within 1 week, it had crossed 100 million downloads. This was a huge blow to PUBG Mobile as CoD Mobile broke its record.

Now CoD Mobile has dealt yet another blow to PUBG Mobile. US based digital media company, Ranker, which is very popular for its polls, now ranks Call of Duty Mobile as the most popular mobile game. It has dethroned PUBG Mobile, which has now slipped to the 2nd position. The third position is occupied by Minecraft.

Even though the total number of downloads and revenue is higher for PUBG Mobile, it is only because of the fact that the game has been around for much longer. Call of Duty Mobile, on the other hand, has been around for only a month. Right now, PUBG Mobile has around 400 million users, which took almost a year to reach, whereas CoD Mobile has crossed 100 million downloads within a month.

CoD Mobile might soon surpass that number as well since the game has certain factors in its favour. For one, the franchise already has a loyal fanbase and the mobile version of the game caters to that with popular maps and returning game modes. Which brings us to the second reason it is so popular; CoD Mobile has multiple game modes along with Battle Royale, so it gives the players a choice. The game also has an active community where the developers of the game interact regularly with the players which goes a long way in ensuring that the game remains popular. CoD Mobile will also soon have controller support.

Where PUBG Mobile has an advantage is in competitions. Tencent has been giving a push to the competitive PUBG Mobile scene in India, often sponsoring huge prize money for the events. It remains to be seen whether they also do it for CoD Mobile (Tencent has developed CoD Mobile in partnership with Activision).
