New Update
Valorant

We first got the official confirmation of Riot’s new competitive FPS a few months back, when they also announced a host of other new games. At that time titled Project A, Valorant was the most high profile announcement, since it is the first new PC game that Riot will be releasing since League of Legends and it marks the entry of a new player into the scene.

Valorant looks like a cross between CS:GO and Overwatch, combining tactical shooting with special powers for each player. Just like CS:GO, the players will have to buy weapons and equipment at the start of a round, which means the economy will play an important role. But apart from these, even the abilities will need to be bought and they will have a limited number of charges. So far this mix does not bring any original ideas to the table.

But the USP of Valorant is its amazing Netcode and its fight against cheaters. Valorant will have128 tickrate servers. That means better communications between the client and the server regarding gamestate which means better bullet hit registrations. This will be the first time a game will have 128 tickrate servers on a global scale. For comparison, CS:GO has  64 tickrate servers, Rainbow 6: Siege has 60 tickrate servers and Fortnite and Apex, both have 30 tickrate servers. Then there is also Riot Direct, where Riot partnered up with ISPs throughout the world to have their own internet pathway. Which basically means that instead of public networks, Valorant signals will have their own pathway through Riot Direct. Riot Direct was originally introduced for LoL .

When it comes to cheating, Riot has taken the problem seriously. An Anti-Cheat team was working on the game way before the development stage. Which means that Anti-Cheat is integrated into the game design, which will make it really hard to create cheats for the game.

Also, according to Polygon, the game will be free to play, will have a battle pass as and no loot boxes. Valorant is scheduled to release some time in Summer 2020.
