Riot Games has had quite the year. They announced multiple new games and also escalated their expansion into one of the fastest growing gaming markets, the Middle East. As a part of that, they will be hosting The Nexus in Dubai, a whole festival dedicated to League of Legends.

The Nexus will be a part of the Riyadh Season, which is an initiative undertaken by the Saudi government to promote Saudi Arabia as a tourist and entertainment hotspot. Apart from competitions which will have a total prize pool of $2million, The Nexus will have concerts on all the three days, from December 5th to December 7th. The festival will see a performance by DJ Mako and Crystal Method in the opening ceremony and on the second day. The third day will be headlined by Jason Derulo. This is a great initiative to attract even people who are not the fans of LoL to the event.

This is not the first time Riot has brought in a music star for their event. Imagine Dragons opened the League of Legends Worlds in 2014, with their song warriors, and also in 2018. League of Legends also features their own virtual band, K/DA.

The Nexus is Riot’s war horn as they announce their entrance into the Middle Eastern gaming market. They announced that they would release a localized version of the game in Arabic sometime next year.

“We have been working on ways to deliver local experiences to our communities and players across the MENA region,” said Onur Tamer, Middle East General Manager at Riot Games. “The Nexus is our first step in solidifying our presence in the region to support and celebrate our players.”

"Saudi Arabia is a key territory for Riot Games in the Middle East and North Africa," a MENA Riot Games spokesperson told Newsweek. "We heard of the Riyadh Seasons and got approached by the General Entertainment Authority. This led to a great partnership and the creation of The Nexus Festival our first out of many events in the region. We hope we can bring the best player experience to Saudi Arabia and kick start our journey in the region leading into 2020."
